WELOME TO THE UPPER ROOM

The inspiration for the Upper Room was the result of ongoing conversations with the Lord. He kept placing single women on my heart. Women who are alone. Within each conversation I heard Him say over and over again that no one should feel alone.

Looking back I can see why God took me through the trials and challenges in my life. My own mother was widowed at age 55 and lived years longer without dad. So many of my own family and close friends have found themselves alone either through death, abandonment or divorce.

I’ve seen their struggles, their pain and heartache but most importantly I’ve had the honor of witnessing their amazing courage. Their strength. Their faith.

The Upper Room is a tribute to these women. It exists solely for the purpose of coming along side. Being there. Lending an ear to listen. Laughing and crying together. Answering their practical needs and emotional needs. Showing Christ’s love with absolutely no expected return.

How We Serve

How We Serve

HOW WE SERVE THese precious women and their families

What we hear most often from those we partner with is the feeling of loneliness, especially when facing major decisions on their own. Nothing can replace a spouse—a life mate. We can however, come along side to let them know we care. For us, being there to talk things through, meet some basic needs, pray together and encourage is the first step on the road to healing.

From a practical standpoint, we’re there to provide a support system. We’ve provided books for children's education, transportation and medical assistance as well as rent checks for difficult financial situations.

Beyond the basics we also organize social gatherings and workshops where women can come together and enjoy each other's company and share each other's burdens. We make calls. Send flowers and gifts as remembrances for special occasions.

Most often we find that once women connect they begin to form their own loving support system simply because they can relate to others who share their journey.

TESTIMONIALS

NANCY

The generosity of the Upper Room Foundation changed my life. I was recouping from extraordinary medical bills, while supporting myself and helping my sibling. I found myself in need of a major lifestyle change. About 2 years ago, the foundation provided the means to purchase an older wonderful fifth wheel as my primary housing so i could relocate to a wonderful RV park and rebuild my life.

About 8 months Ago i had a subsequent heart attack. Had it not been for the foundation facilitating this economical RV lifestyle with now such minimal overhead, I can't imagine where I would be today. It is my hope and prayer that many more women will have the opportunity to stay strong and  be empowered and encouraged to continue believing in God and themselves.  Because this is their mission. I am forever grateful and humbled and blessed.  Thank you Upper Room from the bottom of my heart.

The Upper Room Foundation has touched my life profoundly. There really are no words that can accurately portray what this Foundation has meant to me. Knowing that there is someone out there who cares about you is priceless and lifts my spirit greatly. During my husband’s battle with cancer we needed to start juicing for him. After researching the juicers out there I found one that would give us the highest quality juice but it was very costly. The Upper Room Foundation ended up providing this wonderful juicer for my husband—something that was very important in our fight against his cancer. Having the means to give my husband the healthiest nutrition gave me great comfort and gave us one more way to fight for his health. I will always be so grateful for the caring and generosity of the Foundation during a very difficult time.

The caring and generosity did not end there. Every Christmas since my husband’s death I and my family are remembered with thoughtful and generous gifts to make our life a little easier and the celebration of the Christmas season even sweeter. Being remembered means everything to me. The gifts are amazing but not being forgotten is the most important part of this. My family witnesses this year after year and all this is done in Jesus’ name. It is my hope that someday I will be in a position to give back to them tenfold what they have done for me and mine. God Bless the Upper Room Foundation and all the work they do to help all those in need and for being the perfect example of how God wants us to love and care for each other.

LOIS

The Upper Room has made an incredible impact on my life. They truly care about the elderly, single woman and the lonely. I'm on a tight fixed budget as I am 80 and have a financial monthly income with no wiggle room. My car of 20 years finally wore out. I was desperate to replace it. I need a vehicle for doctor appointments, errands and a way to get to church on Sunday. The foundation stepped in a few years back and blessed me with a beautiful used car that was just right for me. They have also blessed me and my sister, who lives with me, with grocery certificates and baskets filled with thought and love. I'm also a breast cancer survivor and they have been a strong support emotionally as well. What can I say, but you are Jesus with skin on. May the Lord bless the Upper Room Foundation and all those involved in its operation. You are truly a blessing.
